We have been doing a fair bit of research and come to the conclusion that this strain and very likely, most strains being retailed as PE6 are not actually the real PE6 strain. We aim to maintain genuine strains and species, so if we suspect it is not the real deal, we stop selling it. PE6 is supposed to have the same genetic traits as the PE lineage, yet we have found most do not. We also have a picture of the original PE6 strain and it is supposed to be quite a fat variety. We will be posting pictures of the real PE6 so you can compare your genetics. For these reasons we have decided to discontinue this product until such a time as we find the real deal, however, we think this lineage is lost.

PE6 is said to be a cross between a standard cubensis mushroom and Penis Envy, to hybrid a spore producing PE variant.

This is how PE6 came about, as quoted from 'RogerRabbit' from Shroomery:

"A single sector fruiting isolate of PE, and another of TEX were placed on a petri dish with rattlesnake venom added to the agar. The snake venom helped the two dikaryotic strains share genetic information to form a third sector, which was which was labeled PE6. Other Isolates of the PE were labeled PE 1-7, and apparently, some of the 6, which was the cross, were in the same batch of prints. The idea was to get a good spore producing PE, but I never had time to stabilize the strain due to accidentally releasing it early. That's why sometimes they look like texans and sometimes very much like PE."

If you are looking for PE spores, but can't find them, then this is a great alternative to try.

This strain is recommended for intermediate and advanced mycologists, but beginners should have no trouble either.
